Rumsey Engineers Receives ASHRAE National Technology Award

Oakland, Calif.— ASHRAE The American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers has presented Rumsey Engineers with one of the Society’s prestigious 2002 National Technology Award.

The ASHRAE Technology Award recognize outstanding achievements by members who have successfully applied innovative building design in the areas of occupant comfort, indoor air quality and energy conservation. Their designs incorporate ASHRAE standards for effective energy management and indoor air quality. Performance is proven through one year’s actual, verifiable operating data. Awards are given on a regional level with winners moving on to the national competition.

Rumsey Engineers first won the Bay Area Chapter Awards in the Public Assembly, Exisiting Facility category, qualifying them for the national awards where they received an Honorable Mention for their innovative Oakland Museum of California installation.

Peter Rumsey, founder and president of Rumsey Engineers is pleased with the national recognition. "The ASHRAE Awards represent some of the most innovative engineering practices our industry has to offer. When you consider that literally hundreds of worthy projects are submitted every year, it really is a thrill to know that you’re among the best in your field both on a local and international level."

The award puts Rumsey Engineers in good company. "In these types of competitions, you are up against some of the largest engineering firms in the world. This award is proof that we’re doing work that’s making an impact — not only for our customers but within our industry," Rumsey explained. "It’s a team effort. And we feel good knowing that everyone played a part in our success," he added.

ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers is an international organization of 50,000 persons with chapters throughout the world. The Society is organized for the sole purpose of advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration for the public's benefit through research, standards writing, continuing education and publications.
