April 23, 2003 Rumsey Engineers Receives 2003 Technology Award from ASHRAE Golden Gate Chapter Oakland, Calif.— The American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has presented Rumsey Engineers with a ASHRAE Golden Gate Chapter 2003 Technology Award. The ASHRAE Technology Awards recognize outstanding achievements by members who have successfully applied innovative building design in the areas of occupant comfort, indoor air quality and energy conservation. Their designs incorporate ASHRAE standards for effective energy management and indoor air quality. Performance is proven through one year's actual, verifiable operating data. Awards are given on a chapter level with winners moving on to the regional and national competition. Rumsey Engineers received first place in the Existing Industrial Facilities or Processes category for a project done for client STMicroelectronics (ST) in Phoenix, Arizona. ST needed to quickly convert 2,000 sf of office space into Class 10 production cleanroom and hired Rumsey Engineers to design an energy efficient HVAC system in a short timeline. The resulting solution met all client's goals including a factor of 4 reduction in energy use as well as a substantial reduction in noise levels.
