This new independent high school in San Francisco's Presidio
emphasizes science, technology, and ethics in its academic programs. The adaptive reuse of an historic Presidio landmark building serves as an example of sustainable design and provides an optimal learning environment that is beautifully lit by both natural and artificial light and has a very high standard of indoor air quality and comfort for students and faculty. Important energy and water efficient design features include natural ventilation, energy-efficient hydronic radiators, highly efficient lighting with occupancy sensing controls, waterless urinals, and a drip-irrigation system. The project recently won an Honor Award in the Institutional category
from the International Interior Design Association.
