Date: September 24, 2003 Rumsey Engineers President to Speak at AIA East Bay on Sustainability and Green Building Design Oakland, Calif.—Rumsey Engineers today announced that founder and president Many organizations are eager to have their new buildings meet the LEED rating systems requirements. However, these same organizations often back off when they see that the sustainable features add cost to the project. Is it possible to achieve LEED certification while staying within standard budgets? Peter Rumsey will share some of his experiences in how to meet sustainability goals at a low cost. This discussion will also highlight several of the more innovative, effective, and economical mechanical system designs for sustainable buildings. Peter Rumsey, PE, CEM, is an emerging leader in engineering design for sustainable buildings whose work has earned national recognition. He has a mechanical engineering degree from U.C. Berkeley and is a registered mechanical engineer in Arizona, California, Idaho, Missouri, Oregon and Texas. He is a Certified Energy Manager and an active member in ASHRAE and Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Mr. Rumsey was the recipient of the Bay Area Energy Engineer of the Year award in 2001.
