Peter Rumsey Joins Panels for Two AIA Green Building Events

Oakland, Calif.—Rumsey Engineers today announced that founder and president Peter Rumsey will be a panelist for two American Institute of Architects (AIA) green building events. The panel discussions will help architects and designers understand the green building process, and provide tips for evaluating green building materials. Mr. Rumsey joins a list of renowned experts in architecture and engineering for these informative AIA panels, which will be held at AIA offices in San Francisco, Calif. on April 28 and May 5, 2004. Both evening programs begin at 5:30 p.m.

To be successful, the green design elements in each phase of a building design project need to be addressed in a consistent and rational manner. Presented on April 28, “Green Design – Phase by Phase” looks at building design projects step-by-step to identify the green design issues, appropriate environmental characteristics, and integration of LEED requirements. Presented on May 5, “Separating Green Fact from Fiction” explores the process for identifying analyzing these claims, and provides design professionals and specifiers with the information they need to successfully select and use environmentally appropriate and sustainable building products. Peter Rumsey, PE, CEM, is an emerging leader in engineering design for sustainable buildings whose work has earned national recognition. He has a mechanical engineering degree from U.C.
